A Blizzard Beneath

Though this 10″ honey locust tree has bold, bright colors, the indomitable grain of the wood shares the stage on equal terms. And that grain is quite active, swirling and turning in all directions. Like, as the title would have it, a blizzard. The thin gold bands do a nice job of demarcating regions of color and, when taken in with the dark walnut finial, almost seem ecclesiastical. Finish in shellac.
