A Substantial Tree

Honey locust is an unforgiving wood. It is as hard as rock and dulls tools quickly. Sometimes I think “I’ve had it with this wood!”, just as we all have from time to time. But then I get through all the cursing (mild, I assure you), all the resharpenings, and all the sanding, and see the finished product, and then I can’t wait to get some more. And so it was with this piece. The wood is so beautiful and responded so well to the red-themed colors that I was just nearly flabbergasted, a feeling I rarely experience. The metallic green and gold accents are the appropriate finishing touches on this fine tree, along with the glossy finish.
