Apple Form With Live-Edge Opening

This piece is at once rustic and refined. Turned from a hefty apple branch while the wood was still green (fresh cut), it has settled into a slightly ovoid shape upon drying. After final sanding, the hollow form was soaked in boiled linseed oil for a couple of days in order to seal it inside and out. The oil also gives the reddish heartwood a darker tone and generally adds to the form’s mass. Finished with oil/urethane and buffed with oil+beeswax.
