Art Nouveau Candlesticks In Walnut

I’ve long had an appreciation for Art Nouveau furniture and design in general. These candlesticks replicate some of the motifs common to this style, including the tulip candle cups and the “garlic bulb” shaft base. Walnut is such a lovely wood, but the standard deep brown heartwood doesn’t develop for years, so if you have a log that’s, say, 12″ in diameter, you might only have a 1″ wide band of the good stuff. Anway, heavy metal washers have been epoxied into the bottoms of the bases for increased stability. Finish is linseed oil and shellac.
