Au Naturel

The piece of white oak this tree came from has some features which some would uncharitably call defects, such as boring insect holes and drying stress cracks. Often, I’ll turn or sand those things away or fill them, but here I decided to let those elements mostly stand. For they may help explain what finally toppled the very old white oak tree this wood used to be a part of. Lots of natural grain is visible from the underside view.
