Big Apple Bowl With Lavender

So this is a good sized bowl, coming in at about 11 inches wide at the rim. It’s actually a little more at the widest and a little less at the thinnest as it was turned green and allow to dry and distort (as wood will do). Thus, the wavy edge and slightly elliptical shape. The big circle of color adds a bit of visual weight and continuity, broken up only by the lightning bolt fissure. After final sanding, the piece got a coat of sealer shellac; then the acrylic paint was applied, followed by several coats of oil/urathane varnish. It’s a great piece to display but will hold up well to things like fruit and nuts, etc.
