Black And White Vase

A classical vase shape on this lovely piece of black walnut. The light sapwood top seems to be draped over the deep brown heartwood of the body. The beautiful grain of walnut is on full display here and together with the gloss finish — the result of a linseed oil soaking, followed by several coats of urethane, topped with a hand-applied “French polish” shellac top coat — make this quite a nice display piece.
