Black Locust Platter

This is a black locust platter that runs about a foot wide.  It came out of a very large tree that was leaning at about a 60 degree angle with the ground.  Amazing it stayed up so long.  It has a raised lip along the inside of the rim and some stepping up the sides.  The foot is small enough to give some impression of floatation and yet big enough to keep the whole thing stable, even when loaded up.  The finish is food-safe.
