Brilliant Green

The green on this splendid tree is a mixture of phthalo green and a glittery gold paint. The glittery gold is a paint that I usually don’t use too much, as it can tend toward the tacky, but when mixed with a color, it imparts a really appealing shimmering quality. When finished with a bright, glossy shellac the combined color really lights up. Branch tips on this piece are highlighted with the thinnest of (non-glittery) gold and the thin red paint allows just a wee bit of grain to poke through on the bottom.
