Chestnut Bowl

I have had opportunity to work with very little chestnut in my day.  No doubt, the chestnut blight has a lot to do with that.  This bowl came from a single small log that a family friend, now long gone, gave to me.  I made her some pieces and this one I made for my own.  Great figure and a classic potato chip rim.  This bowl goes back a few years (made in 2002), but I believe most of the amber color is due to several coats of rubbed shellac over a single coat of oil.
