Douglas Fir Bowl

Douglas Fir bark is quite amazing, right up there with elm and white oak.  This bowl is from a rather large log, the result of which is that the growth rings are horizontal.  I worked this to a sort of classical urn shape and added some grooving along the top that runs in and out of the bark.
