Figured Cherry Tree

What, no clever title on this one? I’m practicing self-restraint here, just as I was when I went to color this lovely piece of wood. I decided I definitely wanted a transparent shade, so as to let the grain features show. But after that, I decided I was basically going to leave it there. Of course, I couldn’t. But I added only bands of solid red to the branch tips and silver-gold accents on the finial and base. I guess for me that’s restraint. I spent a good bit of time getting multiple coats of shellac to build up to a nice glossy sheen.
