Gold Topped Walnut Tree

Quite a large finial on this tree hewn from a lovely piece of black walnut. The color is a mixture of gold, silver, and copper paints and gets along nicely with the dark brown of the walnut. But then who woodn’t? It’s all in the set up. The minimal holiday colors make their case and then settle into a supporting role. The flashy finish is built up from many layers of shellac.
