Grandfather Tree

Why grandfather tree? Well, this tree was made from the wood of what could be called the granddaddy of white oaks, The Landis Great Oak . I estimate 65 years growth in this piece alone, an age which is getting into grandfather range in human terms. It’s also pretty big, standing at almost 11″ high and spreading out to 4″ wide. The added color is sparing, with the finial being the most lively locale. The old coot is finished off with many thin coats of shellac (itself an ancient finish) for many years of beautiful protection.
