Green Textured Tree

This 8″ high tree is turned from a piece of spalted maple. Spalted maple tends to exhibit all sorts of interesting grain details but it also can be soft in spots. In addition to all that, this piece of lumber had lots of tiny worm holes. I painted this highly textured surface in two tones of green. The combined effects mimic the texture of spruce needles. The top and bottom are left natural and are quite nice to look at.
