Heavy Snow

This hefty fella is made from black locust, one of my favorite turning woods. Its density is immediately perceived when you pick up a piece like this. It’s not as porous as, say, red oak, but its grain does sometimes make itself heard, you might say, along with the occasional grain fissure. But the overall effect of this tree is glossy and light with green tips, a gold sphere and a bright red collar. Holiday-ish or just wintry.
