Landis Oak Bowl

A simple bowl made from very old wood. Well, at least the tree was very old. I refer to the wood as Landis Oak, which is not a species of oak but rather an association with a particular tree, the great oak at the Landis Arboretum in Esperance, NY. That tree is sadly gone now, but it was estimated to have lived for more than 400 years. Other than that provenance, the bowl features the usual beautiful white oak grain that we’re all familiar with from Arts & Crafts furniture and the like. Finish is several coats of shellac.
