Oak Thread Spool Box

This white oak box, with its blue field of color and natural wood ends, resembles nothing so much as a large spool of thread. The metallic finish is achieved by blending acrylic paints while the box is spinning on the lathe. The finish is 2-3 coats of shellac on the outside and pure tung oil (food safe and non-nut oil) on the inside.
