Ornamental Tree In White Oak

A biggish tree here, standing almost a foot tall, and every inch of it white oak. But not just any white oak. This is oak from the Landis Great Oak (feel free to google). So, you know, it’s old and mystical and all that. For the coloring, I went with my technique of applying fairly bold base colors and then softening them up with a wash coat or iridescent pearl — what I call an ornamental finish as it reminds me of old Christmas ornaments. The red and gold lends a bit of bright contrast to all that. Many thin coats of shellac have been built up to a gloss finish.
