Pearly Pine

The pearl-ivory color that covers most of this tree results from, believe it or not, an iridescent pearl paint over ivory. So much did I like the result that I stayed my usually ambitious hand when it came to adding additional color, opting for just a thin band of red and gold at each level and a splash of pearly-green at the finial and foot (a popular pub in London). Finish is from several thin applications of good old shellac.
