Red Knot

This tree was made from a section of maple that had a small branch sticking out of it. Ergo, the knot located toward the bottom. This is the most prominent feature, but the grain has other, more subtle excitements elsewhere around the tree, all visible through the bright yet thin red coloring. Accents in gold, white, and green add excitements all their own. The smooth, glass-like finish is the result of many thin coats of shellac.
