Red Oak Box With Pale Green Accents

This is a substantial turned wooden box in red oak stands at about 5″ tall. The wood came from a very large tree in upstate NY that had blown over in a storm. Red oak has beautiful grain structure, like its cousin white oak. This cylindrical form has bands of pale green set within cut grooves, giving a splash of color with crisp lines. The lid is tight but smooth functioning (it pops when you pull it!). Finish is three coats of shellac outside and pure tung oil inside. Perfect for jewelry, spices or other small odds and ends. Of course, it stands on its own for purely decorative purposes and looks great on an end table or bookshelf.
