Sapphire Steeple

This cathedral-like box has a deep, vibrant shade of blue, the result of three coats of the custom-mixed paint. Unfortunately, I forget the formula. The natural wood tone of the beads and finial are a perfect match for the color too. The texture of the gnarly apple wood asserts itself here and there, in small cracks and crannies. I really took time to bring the finish on this one to a nice sheen in order to really show off that sapphire color. This is a piece I keep out on display instead of in storage and wouldn’t mind if it never sold.
