Silver Shadow

This 9″ high piece is topped with a dark hardwood finial that provides a nice contrast to the shimmering gold bugle it sits atop. The main part of the tree is decorated in my “old-timey” ornament finish, with a thin, silvery layer of color over green and red base coats. A few shallow fissures in the wood show through but I left them intact in order to mimic scratches that the old ornaments inevitably ended up with.  The entire affair is brought to a nice gloss with a few coats of shellac.
