Silvery Spalted Maple

Here’s a striking tree that stands about a foot tall. It is covered with a thin iridescent coat of silver paint. The thin black lines of the grain are due to a natural process called “spalting,” which leaves what looks like a terrain map behind. The combined effect of the silver and spalting is a marble-like appearance. And guests will marvel when they see it on your dining room table. Tthe lines of red, white, and gold add a bit of holiday pep, however you define pep. The finish is multiple coats of shellac for sparkle that’s hard to miss.
