Slate Blue

Such dramatic grain on this guy. Wait, guy? Well, trees do have genders. Sometimes. Anyhow, the grain on this tree has popped in a way that I couldn’t have dared hoped for. The treatment was a blue dye followed by a silver wash coat, which mostly just filled in the pores of the wood. Result: instant pop. Or soda, depending on where you’re from. Finished with many coats of hand-applied shellac for a brilliant finish.
