Viridian Green

Don’t you dislike writing that begins with sentences like “Webster’s defines viridian as…”? Me too. But check this out: dictionary.com defines viridian as “a long-lasting, bluish-green pigment, consisting of a hydrated oxide of chromium.” Much better, no? All that aside, it’s a compelling shade of green and looks fine on this tree of broad branches and golden cap. The red oak grain is still there, showing up as patches of pores or wee fissures against an otherwise glossy surface. With the addition of some napthol red, the holiday vibe is complete. I’ll let you look up the definition of napthol.
