Yarnish Bowl In Walnut

This walnut vessel had a knot pop out while drying. The natural crack that opened up just above it means that, as was pointed out to me, it’s a yarn bowl. But I like the look of this feature just the way it is. And so I say it’s a yarn-ish bowl. The knot that stayed intact is quite beautiful, as is the rest of the black walnut grain. The finish is a high gloss, achieved through a many-stepped process of thin shellac coats built up slowly.
