Yew Box With Red Bands

A hand-turned box made from the wood of a 100-year old yew tree.  This piece has about 50 years’ worth of growth rings. The shape features two raised beads that are painted in a cadmium red. The lid is tight but smooth functioning (it pops when you pull it!). Finish is three coats of shellac outside and pure tung oil inside. Additional detailing on bottom and insides. Perfect for jewelry, spices, or other small odds and ends. Of course, it stands on its own for purely decorative purposes and looks great on an end table or bookshelf.
